Homosassa Inshore...

Good to be on the Homosassa River and it's been a while since I've been south. For today's trip, I had the pleasure of having Phil and Steve on board and with some beautiful weather, we caught some beautiful fish. The day began on the incoming tide and catching some really quality trout. DOA jerk baits along rocky points and yellow bottom, was the ticket. The guys secured a fine limit and we then went to live shrimp from Blue Water Bait & Tackle; and had success with a couple fine reds. A great day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Awesome Day...

Today was the day folks and Phil hit it out of the park. The tides were right, the wind was right and the bite was on. We began in the shallows jerk baiting some trout and the DOA glow jerk baits worked outstanding for us. We landed a fine trout limit and next, surprisingly - we also used the jerk baits for a pair of upper slot red fish in hopes of finding a snook. No snook today, but a welcomed red fish catch for sure. To end the trip, another quick run for some sheepshead and Phil ended his vacation with a bang. I always enjoy our trips and thank you as always for everything... Capt. Dan

Pre- Front Perfection...

Talk about a hot bite!!! Today with Pat, Chase and Bob on board; these gentlemen may have experienced some of the hottest inshore trout action anyone could hope for. The team and I fished the shallow hard bottom areas around the mouth of Ozello and we had close to two hours of non-stop action. DOA jerk baits were the ticket and it was a special day. The guys had fine limit of trout and I was fortunate enough have enough tide for a quick red fish stop and we did well. An outstanding day and this one's going to be a tough one to beat... Capt. Dan

Saturday Trout & Reds...

Kind of a hint of Spring for us out on the big pond and it sure was a pretty day. David and Brian joined me today on a group trip out of the Plantation on Crystal River with fellow Homosassa Guides Association Captain's William Toney, Mark Zorn and Rick Spratt. The whole team did a fine job with fine catches of trout and a few red fish. A couple blue fish and Spanish mackerel were also caught, which is a slight hint spring is on the way. Great job team and anglers... Capt. Dan

Always a fun day with Bob and Nancy on board and the husband and wife team had a blast. We covered the whole range we could that today's conditions would allow form inshore to offshore. The trip began in trout land, jigging up a couple trout as we ventured towards some sheepshead structures. We anchored up and caught a little mix of gags, grunts and sheepshead to keep us busy. As the tide rolled in, I made a ride to the South as we eased along the points; and found a couple red fish to wrap up the day. I thank you both so much and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Inshore Trout and Reds...

We were able to squeeze one in today with the windy conditions and Bill, Roland and Jim had a good one. The day began with the incoming tide and we had some fair action on trout, with DOA glow jerk baits in the skinny water. As the tide increased, the bite shut down and we changed gears and red fished. I had to move around to a couple spots to find them, but when we did find them - the action was pretty good. The conditions eventually made us call it a day and I thank you all as always for the great time... Capt. Dan

Catch & Release Reds....

The wind was howling today for us on today's Crystal River charter, but Mishel and Earl were game and we had a good day. Catch and Release red fishing was the name of the game and we had a double digit day. Live shrimp along the rocky points with the mullet schools did the trick. The wind finally picked up so much that it just wasn't enjoyable, so we called it a day. I thank you both as always and I always look forward to our days on the water... Capt. Dan

South Wind Variety....

A big weather change for us today with a gusty south wind and the Coleman team did great. The little bit of tide we had from the South wind allowed us to red fish some and we found a couple nice keepers. The water was dumping out fast though, so we immediately jumped in to some shallow water trout fishing. The guys were loaded with DOA jerk baits and they worked beautifully. In a couple drifts, we had a nice catch of trout and we finished up the day on the sheepshead. I thank you all for the great day and hanging in there for the choppy conditions... Capt. Dan

South Wind....

A wind swap out of the South today which made for good red fishing and skinny water trout. Brian and Nathan were my guests and for their first time here in Crystal River, they did great. The tide was right for red fishing this morning, we hit one key and had our limit of red fish - plus a couple little guys. The shallow water trout on DOA glow jerk baits filled out the rest of the day and it was pretty good. Solid action and the guys had a great day. I thank you both and I hope to see you in the future... Capt. Dan

Grouper and Reds...

The end of the 2016 grouper season with the Novinger family. It looks like the weather is going to keep us off the water for the last two days, but we finished the season strong. I had a fun day with the family as we bottom fished and turned some nice gags with three making the cut, before the wind picked up and chased us inshore. The stiff SW wind and the new moon incoming tide brought in some good water and we red fished the afternoon. The team had a double digit day, reached their limit and called it a day. Thank you all and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan
