If you could order the toughest conditions to fish, I think today was the day. A stiff NE wind, post cold front and "no, and I mean no water"... However, Bill and Jim were my crew today and we persevered. The bite was just about nonexistent until 1pm, but on the incoming tide; it greatly improved. We staked out on a rocky point and did very well jigging up some fine trout. The team caught their limit of trout, plus a hefty red fish. A tough one for sure, but we made it happen... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trout & Reds...

Definitely not the prettiest day out there today, but we made it happen. John, Bud and John were my guest and we had passing cold front to contend with. Rain, wind and low tides were the conditions and it was challenging. We toughed it out and found some fine trout in the kelp grass patches using DOA glow jerk baits. I did make a grouper run, but it was just to nasty to get it going. So, we hit the middle part of the incoming tide late in the day and added a couple nice red fish to wrap up the day. A hard earned limit and great job guys... Capt. Dan

Mr. Emory's, Big Three...

A wonderful day with Mr. Emory from Pennsylvania on board and he did awesome. He and I began the day jigging for trout and it was really good. On two stops, we had several keeper trout and released the others. The wind wasn't as bad as yesterday and grouper was requested; so we headed West. Emory held on the rod tight in grouper land and he turned two fine gags for his limit. To wrap up the day, he caught his first red fish on a free lined live shrimp and I thank you so much for the great day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Hat Trick...

The big three today with the Coleman family; trout, reds and grouper. The day began jigging up some trout with Mirrolure Lil' Johns along the rock bars and the action was great. The team brought 10 nice trout to the boat, plus a pompano and a whiting. Next on the agenda, we ran offshore with some bumpy seas and found a nice limit of gags. The grouper action was great and the guys turned some good ones. With the tides running right, we added a pair of red fish in the Salt river area to end the day. Good as it gets and I thank you both for the awesome day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Gags & Reds...

I was fortunate to have Joe, Deanna and Rich on board today and also put them on their first groupers. The weather was perfect for grouper and we did well. The bite was a bit later today, but when it turned on it was good. We Caught grouper on every drop for almost and hour and turned some fine fish. The team brought in four fine gags and we stopped on the keys for three slot red fish on the way home. A great day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

It wasn't chilly on the big pond today - it was "COLD". From fog, light drizzle and overcast skies, this was a cold one on the water. Joe and Joanne were with me again and we had a nice little mix. We trolled up some grouper and had some excellent red fish action on the afternoon incoming tide. The red fish were really the stars today as the action was excellent with close to twenty slot fish in just two stops. A great day and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan

Reds and Grouper...

An absolute beautiful day out of Crystal River with Joe and Joanne and the red fish really got our day going. The tide was coming in nicely when I reached the outer keys and live shrimp on the rocky points gave us some great red fish action. We had a double digit day on one point and then we tried our luck for grouper. We moved around rock to rock catching several small grouper, but eventually a couple nice keeper gags came on board - plus one got eaten by a jewfish on the way in. A fun time with you both as always and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Gags and Reds...

The wind backed off for us today and allowed the tide to come in for us this morning, and Pat and Laura Lou caught some red fish to start our day. The red fish were running tight in the mullet schools and the action was good. A live shrimp in the mullet action produced the reds and we caught a good bakers dozen of slot fish before we tried our luck for grouper. The grouper action was slow again, but we were able to pick up a pair of keepers before we called it a day. I thank you both for the fun time and here's one of today's gags from our trip... Capt. Crystal River Variety...

A nice variety today with Al and David and the weather was beautiful. The trout game started our day and with DOA jerk baits in hand, we had a nice catch to get the day going. The next plan was to add a grouper to the mix, but they were finicky. The team worked hard and eventually caught a nice keeper, plus a fine late season cobia. A pair of red fish ended our trip and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Inside and Out...

Another beautiful day out of Crystal River and with the wind down, we were able to catch a couple grouper. Chris and Steve were with me for the day and trout was our first species of the day. The bite was much better today and we found some nice keepers for the morning hours. The guys did great on the trout and with the wind down, we ran offshore a bit and trolled up a pair of fine grouper. Chris caught his first couple keeper grouper and then we ended the day on the late tide, with some red fish. A wonderful day with you both and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
