Homosassa Good Eats. May 3rd 2011

P5030495Another fun trip out of the Homosassa Fishing Club today. I had John and Randy on board for a 1/2 fishing and then back to the island for our famous Homosassa Guides Association shore lunch. We ran offshore to the bombing range and picked up the usual mixed bag of trout, sea bass, grouper, mackerel etc.. It's always fun action out there and you never know what your going to get. Captains Mark Zorn, William Toney and Rick Spratt were on the trip as well and and all reported the same good action. Hush puppies, fried fish, baked beans and cole slaw was the lunch menu and another great day in the books. Thanks to everyone for the great day and here's my crew with a couple of today's keeper trout... Capt. Dan

White Caps & Trout. April 29th 2011

Written by
P4290491A cool front came through last night and the high winds were still here for the morning hours of fishing. I met Chuck and Betty at Pete's Pier for a full day out of Crystal River. We spent the day targeting trout and even though the conditions were tough, they did fantastic. Due to the conditions, we stayed in the 3ft depth range and the trout were there in good numbers. DOA deadly combos in the holographic root beer and the new fire tiger really worked well. A mixed catch of the usual species made for a fun day and there was plenty of fish for the family fish fry. Thank you both for a memorable day on the water and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Snook! April 26th 2011

Written by
P4260489I had a special request today to find a snook. I met Hal at Pete's Pier this morning and assred him I'll do my best to find him a "racin mullet". We hit a couple of my favorite snook locations going down the river this morning and on spot number four, we found one. Using a baby bass DOA jerk bait brought him in the boat. Next, we spent the rest of the day targeting some trout and we did OK. We had a hand full of keepers for the last of the incoming tide, but that was it. The afternoon was a little slow and sea bass, lady fish and short trout filled out the afternoon. It was a perfect day to be on the water and thank you Hal for the fun time... Capt. Dan

P4250486A great group of clients out of Pete's Pier today and we had a fantastic Crystal River charter. Debbie, Earl and Vic joined me for a full day on targeting some inshore species. We fished both the shallow flats and deeper spotty bottom areas and the trout we holding well in both locations. Using DOA deadly combos for the shallows and 1/8oz DOA cal shad tail jigs for the deeper locations were are baits of choice. We reached our trout limit, anchored up on some rock piles and chummed a few macks into range. We caught a few mixed species including cobia, blue runners, and grouper, then we called it a day. Back at the marina the tarpon feeding was in session and it was quite a show. Thanks to you all for a spectacular day and hope to see you soon... Capt. Dan
