Crystal River Mix...

A much better bite today and Dan, Lauren and Joe had a good one. The started out on the red fish and they were a little bit more cooperative for us as we caught a fine pair of keepers, before we left them and jerk baited some trout. I had the last little bit of the incoming tide to work with and the team caught some fine trout on the shallow yellow bottom, before we ran offshore. Once offshore I moved around a bit and hit the right spot. Dan dropped down a shrimp and brought up the cobia. The free lined pin fish did their job and it was a cobia frenzy. Four beautiful cobia came on ice and we called it a day. I thank you guys as always and I'll see you in a couple months... Capt. Dan

Happy Easter....

Happy Easter everyone and I hope you all had a wonderful day. I actually had the pleasure of fishing Marty and John for a 1/2 day charter, that I donated for the University of Florida extension office and we had a great morning. Marty caught his largest snook to date which was in slot at 32 1/2", but we released it to fight another day. We stayed in shallow and after the snook catch, we caught and released a few trout; kept three and just had a fun morning. It was a fun time and I look forward to seeing you again in the future... Windy Trout and Reds...

I don't mind the heat, rain, or cold - but a hard East wind is not my favorite. Ted, Brad and Curtis were with me for the day and we stayed inshore and got out of the wind best we could. I just made short drifts off the keys with DOA jerk baits and did pretty well. Some fine trout came on board and a pair of reds ended the day. We saw lots of snook, but unfortunately none would go for us today. I had a great time with you guys and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Cobia on the Menue...

A great day offshore with the Novinger family and we tackled some cobia. I haven't been offshore to the south in quite a while and it felt good to do so. We free lined live pin fish over some hard bottom areas and did well. The big excitement was when the largest jewfish I've encountered to date, tried to eat one of our keeper cobia - It was quite a sight! A couple trout and a nice red fish were also added to the day and once again, I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

Tony, Rusty and Todd were my guys today and they had a good one. Today was a jigging offshore kind of day and we fished the 6ft to 9ft spotty bottom areas. I loaded the team with bourbon colored MirrOlure Lil' Johns and that was basically our bait of the day; until we went red fishing. While we were jigging, we just made long drifts and had a fine variety. With a sold catch offshore, we hit the points on the incoming tide and finished up with some beautiful red fish. A wonderful day and I thank you all... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Slam...

A great day inshore with my old time friends Bob and Dave and the guys completed the inshore slam. The day started on the incoming tide and catching some red fish. We fished the outer keys and a live shrimp on a jig head produced the reds. We made a drift for some trout and caught a nice keeper, but I was game to try for snook and so were the guy's; so that's how we spent the afternoon. We used DOA glow jerk baits along the points and caught three fine snook with Bob's big dog coming in at 35". A great day and the wind eventually chased us in to finish up the day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Spring In Homosassa...

A beautiful spring day with the Sugarmill gang on board and Roland, Bill and Jim had a good one. The wind was a bit gusty out of the South, but we had a little bit of water to work with to find some red fish. I made a couple stops and we caught a fine limit, from upper slot to lower slot. Next up, I made a run off the keys to some hard bottom and began jerk baiting up the trout. The trout action was quite good and we brought in a fine limit of trout in a couple drifts. I thank you all for a great day and always look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Saturday Trout & Reds...

No April fools today, as Kayla and Adam had a fine day out of the Plantation on Crystal River. The trout bite was extremely good for us and we caught the majority of our fish offshore jigging in 9ft of water. Bourbon colored Lil Johns were the flavor the trout were chewing. We had a bit of incoming tide late in the day for a red fish stop and Kayla added a beautiful mid slot fish to the catch. A great day and I thank you both... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inshore...

Frank, Scott and Chris were my team today out of Crystal River and the trout and red fish cooperated nicely. Our first couple drifts today were fantastic and the trout action with DOA glow jerk baits kicked off the day. I did make a run offshore and we jigged up the usual mixed bag of species. The tide began running in hard around 2pm, so we hit the points and finished up with some quality red fish. A great day and I thank you all so much... Capt. Dan

Seafood Sampler....

We did the old seafood sampler today and caught the quite variety. Today was my last sheepshead trip of the year and we caught a few here and there for the morning hours, plus a triple tail. It sure was a good season and thank you everyone for the great memories. Next up, we ran back inshore, tackled a couple trout and Spanish mackerel while casting jigs. To end the day, a couple red fish but a bend in our rods and it was another beautiful day on the big pond. Thank you both and let's do it again sometime.... Capt. Dan
