A great time today with Mike, Chris and Steve and we had a nice mixed bag. We made the run offshore to about 18ft of water and on one spot, we did extremely well. Red fish, trout, snapper, cobia and grunts sure kept us busy using live pin fish and shrimp. We did catch a couple small gags on the first stop, but I moved around a bit after that and Mike turned a hefty gag plus releasing several just under the 24" mark. A beautiful day with a fun team again with Ann, Lauren, Kayle and Brandon being my guests. We had a ball on the rock piles catching a mix of trout, grunts, snapper, grouper, etc... on live shrimp. The action is usually just about every drop and with young anglers on board, there's nothing better. The tide turned around noon, and we finished up our day on the mangrove points finding a couple red fish. I thank you all and I can't wait until next time... Capt. Dan

What a day to start the week and the Settin' the Hook ladies team had an awesome Crystal River charter. I had the pleasure of having Olivia, Ann and Michelle on board with some fantastic action. Every day on the water is a great day, but some are more special than others and today was exceptional. The red fish action was so great, and a combination of live pinfish and live shrimp kept us busy. We also had some bonus species of trout, snapper, sheepshead etc.. to fill out our day. What a great day today with Steve and Billy on board and we ran offshore, where we left them biting yesterday. I got the boat positioned in about 18ft of water and the team sent down some live shrimp. We fished about an hour and a half and we had on stop action with snook, red fish, mangrove snapper, trout, grunts and some gag grouper. A couple of the species were surprises and the abundance of trout offshore, is quite interesting. I believe the hot water temperature sends some of the inshore shore species offshore for comfort and it's always an adventure on the big pond... Capt. Dan

A great first day back at the office and I had Steve on board solo. Steve and I began our day in the back country catching a couple snook on DOA jerk baits on the outgoing tide. The water dropped out pretty quick, so we made our way West to some rock piles and did well. Steve caught his first cobia and we hit a school of really nice trout on the same rock; which was a really nice surprise - I hope they are there for us again tomorrow. The summer heat didn't give us break today and it was a toasty one on the big pond. I had the pleasure of having the Athens family on board and we spent the mornings incoming tide red fishing. I had to move around a bit to find them, but we eventually did. Live shrimp in the mullet schools did the trick and we spent the afternoon rock pile jumping. On the rocks, we had good action with mango's, grunts, small gags, mackerel, lady fish and jacks. Pretty steady action and it's always fun to put a bend in the rod. This was my last trip before I head out to Wyoming, so stay tuned for some fishing updates from the Wild West..... Capt. Dan

What a nice mix of species today our of Homosassa and Casey and Avery were my guests. I kept it simple today and we headed West to 10ft of water and made some long drifts. The rods were loaded with MirrOlure Lil' Johns and they kept us busy. I really enjoy this type of fishing as it's pretty steady action and every cast is a surprise. The gang was back on board today with Mel, Bill and Jerry and it's always a great time. I ran back offshore again for the good trout action and we did well. It was a bit slower than the last two days, but still pretty steady with a mixed bag. Jigging MirrOlure Lil' Johns once again was the deal. We also anchored on a small rock for some great sea bass action, plus releasing the usual grouper too. To end the day Mel brought in s whopper 35" snook and Bill a fine upper-slot redfish. The Novinger team with me today and we had a ball. We made the run to 10ft of water and some awesome action. Trout, sea bass, gags, lady fish etc... kept us busy. Watermelon provoker MirrOlure's were the flavor of the day on 1/8th oz jig heads. We secured a solid catch offshore and finished up the afternoon with a fine snook and upper-slot red fish. The Scott party was on board for day two today and the guys had a great one. I spent the day offshore in 10ft of water and we loaded up on the trout. The action was absolutely perfect and sometimes during the drift, we had three on at a time. Watermelon red/flake Lil johns were the flavor of the day and I thank you all for two great days.... Capt.
