A super slam for us today and we were fortunate to land a variety of species. I had the Coleman family on board out of the Plantation on Crystal River and we did well. The inshore bite was good just like yesterday and we caught a variety from red fish, trout, snook and flounder hitting the points with free lined shrimp. The team caught a nice mix of inshore species, but the weather was looking perfect for running offshore; so we headed West. We reached the grouper grounds and the bite was very good. From trolling, to bottom fishing - the bite was great. An excellent day with you both and I thank you for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Hot Reds, Slow Gags...

A really good red fish bite for us this morning, but the grouper in the afternoon were being finicky for us today. I had the pleasure of having Bill and Sheena on board and right out of the gate, we got on the red fish. We jumped point to point free lining live shrimp and did well. We caught several red fish from over slot, to little up and coming stars. Grouper were on the menu for the afternoon, but they just didn't want to play. We did troll up a hefty one around 13lbs, but he was it. Always a good time with you both and I look forward to doing it again soon... Capt. Dan

Definitely not the nicest day out there for us today, but we hung in there and made it happen. I had the Workman party on board and even though it was rough; the team caught some fine surprise cobia and grouper. The winds were howling for us today out of the NW and there were white caps on the big pond; so it made for some rough conditions. I had to fish some of my shallow numbers and we had some good action. The cobia hit the live bats, while we were targeting grouper and they are always a welcomed surprise for sure. Some grouper got the best of us as well, but we were able to turn a beautiful gag before the rough seas chased us in. A tough day with rough conditions, but we had a good time and I thank you all for the great day. Here's Eric with his first Crystal River Cobia... Capt. Dan

Offshore Crystal River...

Always a fun charter with Steve on board and he brought his guests Frank and Brent, for a full day of fishing. The started out much like yesterday and we caught the outgoing tide for some trout action on cork rigs. The gang brought in 8 keepers and released several under slot fish before we ran to grouper land. The real shallow water grouper bite was a little slow with shorts coming on board, but I ran to 21ft of water and found them. One rock produced six beautiful gags all averaging around 10lbs on live baits. A stellar day and I thank you all for the fantastic charter... Capt. Dan

One of those special days for us today when we hit the tides right and could do a little variety. For my Crystal River Charter today, I had Bear and Walt on board and the team hit it out of the park. The day began using DOA deadly combo cork rigs off the keys picking up some trout. The trout action was pretty good, but we had to leave them to hit the tide right for the grouper. On the big tides around the full moon time periods, you only have a short window to hit for the bite to be just right. Well, we hit a couple different locations and found some real nice sized gag grouper. Live baits were the ticket today for the grouper. With four grouper in the box and a couple hours of the day to go "with the incoming tide"; we hit the out side points and topped off the day with some fine red fish. I thank you both for a special day and look forward to doing it again in the future... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Grouper....

Always a fun day with Mishel, Earl and Jason on board and the team and I had another successful day in the grouper grounds. Today's trip, I ran out to the 25ft to 28ft range and did a combination of bottom fishing and trolling. The bottom fishing bite was quite good and a mix of live and dead baits did fantastic. The floating grass is definitely starting to clear and we were able to pick up our last two keepers trolling Rapala x-rap 20's. I cannot thank you all enough for the fun time together and I look forward to seeing you soon... Capt. Dan

Team Sodium...

An awesome grouper trip with Casey and Chris and we found the gags. Casey is the owner of Sodium fishing gear and his good friend and mine also; Chris joined us to target some Crystal River gags. We fished the 10ft range today and the bite was on. Using a combination of cut thread fin herring and live pin fish did the trick. We had a couple get the best of us, but we turned the majority of them to fill out a limit of fine grouper. Thank you both for the awesome day and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

In the Spread....

A big day for me today as I worked with the "In the Spread" film crew and made my first instructional DVD. We featured shallow water grouper techniques, tackle and how to specifically target these fish. We had a great day off Homosassa and the video will be avaibale soon at www. inthespread.com. I really enjoyed the day with you all and thank you for a fun time... Capt. Dan

Flat Calm Grouper...

The calmest I've seen the gulf in quite sometime and I believe you could have taken a canoe offshore today. I had the pleasure of having the Worthington family on board for a grouper trip and we headed West. I have not been to the 25ft range in a while and was anxious to go there myself. I have to pick and choose my days to run to that range since I have a bay boat; but when the opportunity rises - I'm there. Today was glass, flat calm conditions and it was a breeze running offshore. We anchored on a couple low profile rocks and did great. The team brought in a fine limit of gag grouper using a combination of both live and cut thread fin herring baits. A perfect day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

12ft Gags...

Great conditions and perfect seas to go to grouper town and Dave, Mike and Jeff did fantastic. I fished some shallow rocks today in the 12ft range and the grouper were ready to play. Live baits were the top producers for us, and believe it or not; spot tail pin fish baits were on fire. The bite wasn't hot as yesterday's, but we hung in there and did fine. Thank you all for the great day and congratulations on your catch... Capt. Dan
