On the Rocks...

A great family on board for today's Saturday charter and Mitchell, Dave and Eric had a blast. We left from Pete's Pier Marina just after 8am and made our run to the trout grounds to start the day. The wind wind up a bit out of the East which made for some fast drifting; but we did land quite a few under sized trout and some keepers while giving it a try. With the choppy conditions though, I knew a best bet was anchoring up on the shallow rocks and having some fun bending the rod. The team stayed busy with the usual mix of species and once again just a live shrimp on a knocker rig was the bait of choice. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to seeing you all again soon... Capt. Dan

Offshore Crystal River...

The day of all days to go offshore and Bill, Henry and Steve hit it out of the park. I met the guys at 8am and we headed West. When I reached the mouth of the river it was like glass, so we made the run to 30ft. I anchored and the day was pretty much non stop action. Live shrimp on knocker rigs kept the rods bent and it was some fantastic fishing. We also caught some blue runners that we used as live bait and landed a 15lb gag grouper on one. It was one of those picture perfect days and I thank you all for the great day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Offshore...

The perfect day to go offshore with Meredith and Blake for the day and the rods stayed bent. I took the couple to the 25ft range and dropped down live shrimp on knocker rigs. The bite was on and literally every drop produced a fish. We had a nice variety of species and a real beauty of a mangrove snapper too. The water was clear and seeing the fish swim around under the boat is always a treat. What A fun day and I look forward to doing it again soon... Capt. Dan

Gags & Trout...

What a pleasure to have Curtis on board for the day and we had a ball. Curtis will be moving to the area with his wife shortly and wanted to see what Crystal River has to offer. We did a variety of things today from cork rigging the flats, jigging the grass patches and casting plugs for grouper. We caught a little bit of everything and the weather was spectacular. I really enjoyed the day and I thank you for the great time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Mix...

A great day at the Homosassa Fishing Club with the Scott party and myself and fellow Homosassa Guides Association Captains Mark Zorn, Clay Shidler, Rick Spratt and John Hamilton did outstanding. Awesome trout catches across the board, and good mixes of sea bass, grunts, mackerel, grouper and sheepshead filled out the teams day. My group did very well and had a great variety. I thank you all for the fun day and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Catch & Release...

Wow! What a day on the shallow rocks. We were at the Homosassa Fishing Club for day two fishing the Stribling party and my team did great. My team was outstanding and since it was just a catch and release trip; I said let's check on the shallow water grouper. I ran to the rock piles and we cast plugs to check on the gags and it was awesome. We totaled nine keeper gags on Rapala F18's, took some great pictures and sent them home. Also for the day, we drifted the grass patches in 9ft of water off Homosassa and had a mix. Trout, lady fish, blue fish, sea bass and more sharks than I could count, kept us busy when were weren't tackling the grouper. What a day and I thank Tyler and Nick for the fun day... Capt. Dan

Offshore Crystal River...

One of the best and most memorable days offshore I may have ever had. I had Kristen and Nick on board for the day and we made the trek out to 35ft of water. We did a mix of bottom fishing, trolling and free lining to fill out the day. The bottom fishing for grouper was excellent and we released well over a dozen keeper sized gags, but also caught some red grouper too. The highlight of the day for us though, were the big king mackerel. We free lined sardines while on anchor and caught some beautiful hefty king fish close to 20lbs. These fish were drag burning monsters and it was truly great. I had a first for me today and landed a couple scamp grouper. Scamp grouper are usually found real deep and though these weren't keeper sized; it was still cool to see them. Non stop action and what a beautiful day - I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Ladies of the Gulf Variety...

An awesome day and an even better crew on board today. I had the pleasure of having the "Ladies of the Gulf" on board and we had a great mixed bag. Today's trip began drifting offshore a bit in about 6ft of water and jigging up some trout. In a couple of drifts, the team brought about a dozen beautiful trout to the boat, plus lots of lady fish keeping us busy as well. With a fine catch of Crystal River trout, our next stop was to anchor up and do some chumming. I picked one of my favorite rocks and we had plenty of variety. Free lined live shrimp in the chum slick kept us busy and I can't thank you all enough for the great day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

Wow! What a beautiful day to go offshore and that's exactly what we did with Sarah and Randy on board. Once again, I made the run to the sheepshead grounds and the bite was just as good as yesterday's; but the size average was up a bit. The action was good and we even picked up a surprise snook on an offshore wreck in almost 20ft of water. With a fine catch of sheepshead, we anchored up and chummed up a few drag burning macks to wrap up the day. I thank you both for the fun time and congratulations on the outstanding catch... Capt. Offshore Sheep's...

Some more excellent late season sheepshead action offshore and with the Lent family on board; they did fantastic. We fished the ledges in the 17ft-23ft range and did very well. The sheepshead action was very good, as well as the gag grouper. The grouper were pretty much non stop all day and we even had a Goliath grouper grab a grouper for some added excitement. A bonus cobia was caught and we all had a great day. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
