We hit it out of the park today! Myself and Capt. Mark Zorn fished the Kilebrew party for an excellent day of Crystal River Fishing. I had Bob, Greg and Brad on board and the trout fishing couldn't have been better. From the oyster bars to the rock piles, the trout action was excellent. My team primarily used MirrOlure Lil' Johns in the new Bourbon color (I really like this color, and so do the fish) on 1/8th oz DOA cal jig heads. We had some added bonus species for the day including snook, pompano and Spanish mackerel. The entire group did oustanding with both boats bringing in their limit of trout and Capt. Z had several more macks to end the day. I thank you all for the great time and for more pictures, please visit the Crystal River Fishing facebook page... Capt. Dan

We got rained on a little today, but it didn't slow my solo guest Fernand down from a great days fishing. I met Fernand at Pete's Pier Marina this morning and we shoved off in hopes of a limit of trout. The day began using jerk baits around the shallow oyster bars and in less the 20 minutes, we had 6 beautiful trout to show for our efforts. The quality of the trout were great and a couple were over the 20" mark. We left the shallows and worked a variety of rock piles around some spoil islands and finished up our limit. Glow and bourbon were today's hot colors and to end the day, we even released a couple more trout on DOA deadly combos. I thank you for a wonderful day and enjoy the fresh fish... Capt. Dan

Crystal River 1/2 Day Trout...

The steady south wind was with us today, but it didn't slow Ron and Fred down from catching a couple trout. We had to be creative in our fishing locations and we used the shore to block some of the chop. The trout were real lethargic today and for the morning, they wanted the jig just dragged along the bottom. Root beer and bourbon colored MirrOlure Lil' Johns were today's colors. The fish were scattered and even though the tide wasn't the best, the guys did great. Thank you both for the fun time and look forward to seeing you again... Capt. Dan

Not a ripple on the big pond today, "well not until the sea breeze kicked it anyway". Christa and Scott were on board today out of Crystal River and wow, did they have a pretty day. It was smooth sailing out to the sheepshead grounds and the sheeps were biting well. We didn't have any near the 10lb range, but they were all nice sized keepers. We left the sheepshead, ran inshore and made a couple drifts for some trout. Bourbon colored Lil' Johns did the trick and with a cooler full of fish, we called it a day. Thank you both for the fun time and great job on today's catch... Capt. Dan

Still Chilly Trout....

Winter is still trying to hang on and today was another cold one. Tim and Kathy were my guests today out of Crystal River and Kathy traveled all the way from Texas to catch some trout. The condition's weren't ideal and we kept our heavy jackets on all day. The action wasn't fast and furious, but we caught a couple keepers to secure dinner. Tim caught a nice pompano to start us off and that's always a welcomed catch. We used an assortment of jigs and jerkbaits and all seemed to work about the same. The wind really picked up in the afternoon and by then, the bite shut down for us and we called it a day. I thank you both for the fun time and really enjoyed the day with you. Here's Kathy with her biggest trout to date... Capt. Dan

Someday's, you hit it just right! With the barometer dropping before tomorrows front, today's action was unbelievable. The gulf reached the 60 degree mark and it seemed as if the fish came out of hibernation. John and Kelli were on board with me today and for the first part of their vacation, it truly began with a bang. We targeted the rock bars today with MirrOlure Lil' John's in the new bourbon color and it was the magic color. This color is similar to the root beer color, but more translucent and can be found exclusively a Blue Water Tackle in Homosassa. The trout bite and the additional bonus species were great and several trout were over the 20" mark. The team did beautifully catching their limit of trout and our next stop with the tide topping out, was a couple red fish points. The action was slow for the first couple places, but the last spot, we hit the money. We hooked into eight red fish on free lined live shrimp, with a couple nice keepers to end our day. I thank you both for the very memorable day and congratulations on a fine day of fishing... Capt. Dan

A little different condition's than yesterdays trip and we had the NE wind to contend with. Jim and Fred were my guests today and I had plans on running offshore to catch the last of the Sheepshead season, but we stayed inshore and covered some ground. The trout bite for us today was slow with only a couple keepers and a few shorts to fill out the day. We basically covered the entire North Shore area and only saw a couple fish over some hard bottom areas. The few trout we did catch came on DOA jerk baits and MirrOlure Lil' John's, but we worked hard for them. I thank you guys for all your effort and enjoy the fresh fish... Capt. Dan

Good Weather!!!

With a week of cold temperatures and howling winds, today was the day we've been waiting for. I apologize for the lack of fishing reports, but I've had to reschedule/cancel several charters all week from the drastic weather condition's. I thank you all for your patience and today's charter was definitely worth the wait. Scott, Aaron and Paulette were my guest out of Crystal River and even though there was a little ice on the boat this morning, the bite was on. We were welcomed to a light chop on the gulf this morning and our next stop were the sheephead grounds. The water temperature is in the upper 50's and this has the sheepshead in a feeding frenzy. Live shrimp on a knocker rig was the bait of choice for the sheepshead. Having a good catch in the cooler and the tide making high, we ran back inshore, tied on some DOA glow jerk-baits and caught some beautiful trout. We eased along the oyster bars and every bar that had mullet activity had trout on it. We added a couple to the days total and called it a day. I thank you all for the fun time and congratulation's on an outstanding catch... Capt. Dan

Windy and Cold....... Yes folks, that pretty much sums up today's condition's. Phil and Al were my guests traveling from Pennsylvania and you just feel horrible when the conditions are so. We all said you can't catch them sitting at the dock, so we left from Pete's Pier and ran down the river. Another extremely low tide was with us and limited us to where we could fish. We stayed a little north and worked some of the oyster bars and did catch quite a few trout. Most were on the short side with four of them making it to the keeper sized. DOA glow cal shad tails were the color of the day and every trout we caught was this color. The big catch of the day was the beautiful snook that put up great fight and was one of the larger ones I've seen in a while. We took a few pics and watched her swim away. I thank you both for the fun time, good laughs and we'll see you next time... Capt. Dan

The 15mph NW winds that were forecast, never hit us today and it sure was a beautiful day. Jim, Vern and Jerry were my guest and these guys had a great day. It was overcast and chilly yesterday, but the sun was out for us today and the fish turned on. We didn't move around to much today and just concentrated on one area and worked the oyster bars. Glow colored DOA cal shad tails under deadly combo rigs was the bait of the day. I've been discouraged with the red fishing lately, but decided to give it another try. As luck would have it, we pulled up to a rocky point and in no time; landed seven beautiful red fish on free lined live shrimp. I guess you just never know. I thank you all for the great time and congratulations on your fine catch... Capt. Dan
