P9040728Dr. Phillip Marks from Sanibel Island joined me for an early jump on the Labor day weekend red fish. We left from Pete's Pier at sun up and with the tide just turning to go out, the red fish bite was on. Free lining live shrimp in the mullet schools was our bait of choice and in a couple stops, we boated 8 beautiful red fish. We put a couple in the cooler and called it a day. Thanks you Dr. Marks for a great morning and hope to see you again up here in the Nature Coast... Capt. Dan
P9030727A great start today to an always fun weekend. Kara, Chris, Mike and Yvonne joined me out of Pete's Pier for a full day of scalloping and relaxing. Leaving the marina just before 9am, we made our run to the scallop grounds. A light breeze, clear water and an outgoing tide made the scalloping conditions perfect. In a couple hours we had all we needed and had a great time doing so. Here's Chris and Kara with some of the day's scallops, while Yvonne and Mike were still in the water grabbing a couple more. Thank you all for the fun time and look forward to seeing you soon... Capt. Dan
P8300722Donna and Tony were on board today and I picked them up from their beautiful home on the Homosassa river. Leaving the dock a little before 8am, we noticed several storms around, but we got lucky and out ran them. It was a little to rough to run offshore to the rock piles, so plan B was to stay inshore and find a couple trout. Fishing the shallower 3ft to 4ft depth range, we  picked up a few keepers and released numerous shorts to fill out the morning. DOA deadly combos and using the glow cal shad tail jig was the bait of choice for the day. Our next plan was to fish the afternoon high tide for red fish, but we had one more batch of bad weather coming. We made the call to come on in and play it safe and with enough fish for dinner, the day was a success. Thank you both for a fun time and look forward to seeing you again, when you come back to Florida... Capt. Dan
P8270721We were blessed to avoid hurricane Irene, but she still sent some windy conditions our way. Nancy and Robert joined me today out of Pete's Pier for some back country fishing. We began the morning trying to make a drift for some trout. While we did catch some shorts, it was just to rough to keep trying. Our next plan was to get in the creeks and find some red fish. The reds were there and in just a couple stops, we boated 9 reds and my anglers had their limit. A free lined shrimp was the bait of choice and it was a good decision to get out of the wind. Thank you both for a very fun day and look forward to seeing you again. Here's Nancy with the first keeper of the day... Capt. Dan
