P5270552I had a special request to target cobia today, so I brought the heavy tackle and prepared for an offshore trip. I had Bonnie and Jeremy on board and I picked them up at Pete's Pier an we were offshore bound. We started the day catching some live baits, a few trout and our next stop was one of my favorite ledges in 17ft. Just moments after we were set up a beautiful keeper cobia came aboard and on the next cast, we boated an under slot one. We released a couple grouper and lost two more cobia before the bite was over. We finished up the day catching the usual mixed bag of species and another successful charter out of Crystal River. Thank you both for a fun time and look forward to our next trip... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Slam. May. 26th 2011

Written by
P5260547I had a cancellation today, so my good friend Clay asked me to join him and do some exploring. We had a good incoming tide and we went deep in the back country creeks. We saw a few trout and red fish and caught one of each to start out the day. After spending several hours looking around and finding the next honey hole, we had to try for a snook to complete the day. We ran a couple miles north to a creek that we have both done well in the past and Clay completed the slam. Thanks for the the fun time and look forward to going offshore next time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Reds. May. 24th 2011

Written by
P5240539What a great red fish bite out of Homosassa! I had Bill, Gene and Mel on board and the guys met me at Macrae's, and with an incoming tide, we started the day catching several red fish. On the first point we lost a good one, but on the next rocky point the guys caught some beautiful reds. We put a couple keepers in the cooler and ran offshore to find some trout. The trout bite was a little slow today, but we put 4 nice keepers in the cooler and a sea bass before we called it a day. Using a combination of DOA holographic root beer shrimp and white gulp shrimp were the more productive colors. Thanks for the fun time and here is Bill with the big red fish of the day... Capt. Dan
P5210538Today was day day four and the final day for the Austin party, and I had Alex and Trip on board. With only a 1/2 day to fish, we ran offshore to the 10ft depth range and quickly got on some keeper trout. Using DOA shrimp and camo gulps were the baits of choice and it was non stop action. The sea bass are literally so thick, that every cast usually results in a hook up, if a trout doesn't beat them to the bait. We were back at the dock at noon and another fun day out of Homosassa. Thanks to the entire group for a great couple days and look forward to seeing you again... Capt. Dan
